St. Petersburg – 34 year-old Gary Paul Thomas lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on St. Petersburg city streets on Tuesday afternoon around 5:45 p.m.
The rider was thrown from his 2009 Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control after attempting to make a hard left turn at the corner of 24th Street North and 32nd Avenue North in Saint Petersburg.
Police investigating the scene of the accident reported that he left the roadway, drifted onto a nearby patch of grass, and then skidded back onto the paved surface at which time he was tossed from the out-of-control vehicle.
Emergency responders also confirmed that Thomas struck his head on the paved surface; and was not wearing a helmet. The 34 year-old is currently listed in critical condition and is being treated at Bayfront Medical Center in near downtown St. Petersburg.
